Looking after your pieces
The more you wear your jewellery, the more it keeps its shine. Every purchase of jewelry comes with a polishing pad to avoid your jewellery turning dull or darker over time ( which is totally normal and not indicative of bad quality ). Maintain the shine of your jewelry using the polishing pad, then store it in a safe and DRY location.
Bathing or ocean time
You can wear your jewellery in the ocean / water, in fact gold and silver especially love the water / sun / surf combo as it keeps its shine nicely. Make sure to rinse off, dry and store in safe and dry place.
Perfumes or Lotions
Perfumes / scented lotions / hand sanitizer should not be sprayed directly onto silver or gold.
What do I use for materials?
Sterling silver , 14k gold and brass all sourced from reputable and ethical sources.
We use a beautiful yellow 14k gold, instead of 18k or 24k gold as it scratches less due to it being less soft than 18k or 24k gold.
Silver is known to have anti-bacterial properties and it is great metal for those with sensitive skin. Sterling silver is a bright, chic and wonderfully durable metal, one of my fave choices alongside brass for every day jewellery.
Yellow brass is a very popular metal in Africa. Not only do we love it for its gold-like resemblance, cheaper price tag, but in certain African cultures some believe it holds healing and antibacterial properties, others believe it symbolizes courage. Perfect for everyday jewellery as its strong, less expensive and beautiful.
**Please note that brass is an alloy; when wearing brass, some may notice a very slight green discoloration on your finger which is due to a reaction with skin acidity or oxidation. This reaction happens between oxygen and the copper within the brass. Please note that this is NOT harmful to you nor does not mean that brass is of bad quality. This doesn’t happen to everyone, in fact some won’t experience this at all, however please note that if you purchase a brass piece there is this possibility. This won’t stain your skin, and you can simply just wash it off. If this makes you unsure of buying brass, we suggest sticking to pieces in sterling silver or solid 14k gold. If you wear it in the ocean or during exercise, we recommend you rinsing off jewellery straight after with warm water / soap and dry. Please avoid brass jewellery from any contact with hand sanitizer / alcohol products / lotions / scented products / salt or dampness.**
